What is a Gastroenterologist?   A gastroenterologist is a physician who specializes in disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal ("GI") tract, also called the digestive tract. After completing their general medical education, gastroenterologists train for at least two years to attain Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Then, gastroenterologists study for an additional 2-3 years specifically for conditions of the GI tract.

What is a Physician Assistant? A Physician Assistant (PA) is a health care professional licensed to practice medicine under direct physician supervision. As part of their responsibilities, PA's conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests and counsel on preventative health care. PA's are educated in the medical model designed to complement physician training and health care services.

Richard Jaszewski, MD received his medical degree at the University of Guadalajara Medical School, Mexico, and did his residency program in New Jersey at St. Michael's Medical Center. Since completing a GI fellowship at Wayne State University, he has held positions as Instructor, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in their School of Medicine. His gastroenterology practice experience at the Veterans Medical Center in Detroit includes being the Chief of the Division on Gastroenterology. He is also certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Jennifer Margopulos-Kelenske, PA-C has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Virginia Tech University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. She is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Jennifer has been working in the specialty of Gastroenterology since 2004.

Allison Parm, PA-C has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Calvin College and Master of Science in Medicine from Western Michigan University. She is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Allison has been working in the specialty of Gastroenterology since 2004.

Meredith Best , PA-C has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Calvin College and a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Central Michigan University.
