What is a Gastroenterologist?   A gastroenterologist is a physician who specializes in disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal ("GI") tract, also called the digestive tract. After completing their general medical education, gastroenterologists train for at least two years to attain Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Then, gastroenterologists study for an additional 2-3 years specifically for conditions of the GI tract.

What is a Physician Assistant? A Physician Assistant (PA) is a health care professional licensed to practice medicine under direct physician supervision. As part of their responsibilities, PA's conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests and counsel on preventative health care. PA's are educated in the medical model designed to complement physician training and health care services

John P. Egan Jr., MD received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonome de Guadalajara. He completed post-graduate training at Brooklyn's Downstate Medical Center and Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, where he also completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. Egan is Board Certified by the American Board of Gastroenterology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Richard Jaszewski, MD received his medical degree at the University of Guadalajara Medical School, Mexico, and did his residency program in New Jersey at St. Michael's Medical Center. Since completing a GI fellowship at Wayne State University, he has held positions as Instructor, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in their School of Medicine. His gastroenterology practice experience at the Veterans Medical Center in Detroit includes being the Chief of the Division on Gastroenterology. He is also certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Jeffrey A. Leinicke, MD is the senior partner.  Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, he completed his undergraduate degree at Depauw University. His graduate education was at St. Louis University, and post-graduate training was done at the University of Pittsburgh. A fellowship program was completed at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Leinicke and his wife have three grown children and live in Norton Shores.

Kellie Laskowski, PA-C has completed a bachelor degree in Health Science and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Grand Valley State University. She is licensed and board certified to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant. The past two years have been spent working in family practice and specialty care settings. Kellie lives in Hudsonville with her husband.

Kellie will be performing medical histories and physicial examinations in the Muskegon office and the Grand Haven clinic. Following a consultation with her, the physician of care will perform any gastroenterology procedures that you may need.
